The TV interviewers were queuing up along with the autograph hunters and the glitterati of Welsh golf at the Wales Open in Harlech, the centre of attention was Becky Brewerton.

She had just been picked for her second Solheim Cup, she was back on Welsh soil with a real chance of winning – Brewerton was hot property for the TV and media pack at Royal St David’s.

Being selected for a second Solheim Cup moves her into the top bracket in Welsh golf history – only Ian Woosnam has more than one appearance for a team of the top Europe professionals on his CV, but Brewerton has now extended that list to two names.

It all follows a Nick Faldo-style revamping of her game - she may have been already the only Welsh woman ever to play in the Solheim Cup, but she still decided to undergo a series of changes aimed at stepping up a gear.
